Carl's Story

Carl Fritz was a man who liked to fix the world and make it a better place.

Carl Fritz was a man who liked to fix the world and make it a better place. He was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in April 2007. Carl's treatment decision involved a number of radiation treatments that required daily trips to his local cancer center. Carl considered himself fortunate to have the resources to travel to his treatments, but often verbalized the added struggle it must be to have to worry about transportation costs in addition to the other trials of cancer. Over the time of Carl's fight, his wish to help offset the cost of transportation for others who were dealing with cancer kept surfacing. He wanted to give some certainty back to cancer patients and to show community support by helping with their transportation needs so they could focus on healing. Carl lost his fight with cancer before he could set his plan into action, but not before he instilled the importance of this cause to his family. The Carl Fritz Cancer Transportation Fund has been set up as a non-profit fund in partnership with the Tuscola County Community Foundation to promote that sense of community while curbing the transportation cost of families dealing with cancer in the Thumb area of Michigan.
